Travels with Charlie

A thing a week from the irrepressible Charles Alexander, Three Years Old.

Week 10: Sometimes you can’t pick just one hat.

Week 10: Sometimes you can’t pick just one hat.

Week 7: Olympic Training.

Week 3: Life Lesson #77 - don’t cover your eyes with your hat and run full speed towards a wall.

Three Years Old

And now a transition to something new.  We’re going to document Charlie’s fourth year with a thing a week — it might be a photo, or an album, or a video, or a something else.  Here we go!…

Epilogue/Prologue

On Sept 1st, 2012, I started the project Travels with Charlie.  My goal was to take, process, and post a photo a day of Charlie for one year.  Tonight is my 365th day in a row doing just that.  Sometimes the pictures weren’t great, and sometimes they would have been taken and shared anyway, but many of the (special to me) photos taken over the last year exist only because I willed myself to pull out the camera or phone and just take a damn picture.  My favorite part of the project is how it — through necessity — celebrated the ordinary, capturing not just “vacation” or “first day of…” but dinner, and bath, and running around naked before bath.

Thanks to all of you for putting up with my non-stop tumblr posts (assuming you haven’t ignored me yet and are actually reading this), and thanks most to Jennifer for being my partner and collaborator!  The tumblr will be quiet for a little while, but a note to the Grandmas/Nanas out there: I’m quite sure this isn’t the end, but rather a transition to something new.
